Ichthammol ointment for razor burn and infected hairs?
Well it help or anything?
Ammonium bituminosulfonate is definitely proported for dermatological use,.. from acne to soothing skin. It isn’t going to hurt, and if works — let me know! Seriously, I have very thick hair (good for the head, but shaving hurts) and would like a product to add to what I use already.
But back to your question:
Razor burn often appears just after shaving – (too hard, not enough product ‘lube’, going against grain and so on) — so technique has alot to do with it. But it also occurs when the hair is just starting to grow through covered skin/pores/hair. As it breaches this freshly sealed skin it causes the irritation.
However your razor burn and infected hairs are being caused there are only a few treatments other than modifying technique that work.
1) Salicylic Acid — I apply just after shaving,.. you can use before and after. But I recommend after.
2) Cold.. (not lukewarm) but cold water. I put this on just before the salicylic acid.. the cold water will help shrink pores to prevent irritation, with the acid on top it works well.
3) Other things I am simply reporting, don’t use personally:
A) Witch Hazel
B) Aloe Vera — I have used this in the past, and it does have great healing properties. I found having an aloe vera plant in the home and just using it right off the plant worked best.. but any form helps.
